TEACHER IN-SERVICE: The teacher in-service component will begin with registration at 8:30AM with In-Service Training begining at 9:00AM and last until 1:00PM.
The Teacher In-Service Training is aimed at promoting the principles and goals of the Knox County School Strategic Plan. The session will include high quality professional development for improved learning and lunch will be provided by the MLK Commission at no cost to teachers. The day will include group discussion along with in depth visionary analysis of looking at the past and setting goals for the future. The 2010 MLK Theme is: Realizing His Dream Through Service: It Is Up To Us. Indeed, the training will inspire, uplift and encourage excellence in all areas of life. As well, participants will receive four (4) credit hours of professional development.
It is also our great pleasure to have Dr. Gina Barclay-McLaughlin, associate professor in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education of the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a member of the Urban Multicultural Program conduct the In-Service Training session.
Teachers interested in the In-Service Training can register through Knox County Schools Teacher U System. The course code is GEN2939. Questions regarding registration should be directed to Dr. Rodney Russell, Supervisor Professional Development Center at 865-579-8018 EXT 1051. Seating is limited and pre-registration is strongly recommended.
