A highlight of the MLK Celebration is the annual Leadership Symposium and Leadership Awards Luncheon. Both events will be held at the Knoxville Marriott Hotel, 500 Hill Ave, 38915. The purpose of the Symposium is to dialogue and receive information about social justice issues and to support those who attend to be better leaders in their own work place, school, and in all activities. The format will include panel, group, and community discussions. The Symposium will begin at 8:30 AM. There is no admission charge and registration will take place at the door. Refreshments will be served and the program will conclude just prior to the noon luncheon.
The Luncheon, starting at 12:00 noon in the Knoxville Marriott Ballroom, is a ticketed event and advance tickets can be purchased for $40.00 from the MLK office 865-673-8988. In addition to the presentation of MLK Special Awards, the guest speaker will be Dr. John Maguire, President Emeritus of Claremont Graduate University, who is actively engaged in racial and social justice community building projects.
